EDUC 230 Teaching with Multimedia Technology Week 3 Day 2 Self-Reflection 2

Blasdhimir Paulino

Summary

My second week of classes, I learned a lot of technological aspects of using excel sheets. I learned how to document in order, names/ titles, in excel blocks. Configurations of pictures and graphical bars on numbers are easily attainable through highlighting the numbers being accounted for. Mathematical functions are automatically done for you through excel formulas. We must always start our formulas with an equal sign followed by the function (sum, divide, average) and the columns being utilized. Functions must always be inputted before any calculation is done. I learned how to prepare work in the excel sheets for my students. I learned how easier it is to use excel spread sheet to grade a class and keep up with their progress in reaching their learning goals for mastery of the class.

I learned how to use action words from the Bloom’s taxonomy with the focus on audience and behavior.  Instructional design models such as ADDIE, helped me understand how progressive steps are taken in designing, developing, implementation, evaluation and analysis to form an affective learning instructional resource. Leading to achievement of lesson goals.

Technological advances in our schools have been able to deliver a modern and new way of teaching. Tools like kahoot, excel, and google form have made this possible. The technological tools have allowed our teachers to implement different ways of teaching our students and attacking their weakness to achieve the learning initiative.  Tools have made it possible for disabled students to have independence in their learning and gain confidence in their abilities.

GROWTH

My technology-based experience during the second week of class, has strengthen my abilities to view technology-based tools in a deeper spectrum. Excel sheets have gone from being a puzzle to me, to having a different way of thinking all together on how to maneuver and create constructive learning experiences for my students. Excel practice has made me realize how versatile the tool can be and used to support students through exercises, practices and illustrations.

Writing about my students learning objectives and describing them through audience and behavior, I have grown to illustrate and demonstrate clarity of what is expected of my lesson goals for my students. Using Bloom’s taxonomy method, I have gain valuable resource experience in explaining my method in shorter and understandable action words. ADDIE has developed a unique structure-based way of thinking for me. Developing a lesson plan for students to achieve success in my classroom, will consist of demonstrative practice and students self-analyzing their understanding of the content, to create independent mastery.

My creativity in getting my message across to my students have grown, through technological knowledge of tools. I have learned that I can create fun resource games with tools like kahoot, to engage my students in more exciting methods of learning. Google form has given me a platform, where I can create my own test forms that would allow my analyzes of my student’s performance to grow.  The tools have aided my growth to continue pursuing better methods for my students to achieve greater success.

Plans

I will continue improving on my excel knowledge to become more constructive and creative in developing analytical, progressive data to help my students become more knowledgeable of their learning goals. Spread sheets, charts, and analytical function practice will help me grow in aiding my struggling class, group or individual. I will remember action words such as in Bloom’s Taxonomy, to express behavior and focus on audience when describing my learning objectives. Technologically, I will experiment with different tools to expand and innovate new learning experiences for my students to achieve understanding and full comprehension of the lesson goals. Practice, remembering, and Improving in all areas of my teaching profession, will consistently keep me updated with new and improving methods of relating information to my students for mastery of the lesson goal.

Peers

The second week of class has been very challenging to my peers and me. My peers and I have learned how to use excel spread sheets. I can see that my peers have developed a in depth approach when dealing with excel sheets. Functions and cell blocks have become very comprehendible compare to when we first started. My peers can form basic spread sheets now and gather and form basic data. My peers have gathered good information on how to build or adapt work samples that would increase a student learning ability. We have a better understanding on how tools can shape a classroom learning engagement and learning success. The class also has a good idea of what is expected and what to do on their teaching videos.

Inconclusion, we are on the right track to success with modern technology.
