BENEFITS OF RUNNING VIA VISUAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY VIDEO

My visual and physical activity learning video I created, brings together both the mental and physical learning aspect of the lesson goal. My visual sample 2, engages my students to different vantage points of understanding the lesson goal. In the video, my students see pictures that facilitates understanding. Words to provide meaning and 1 video to summarized what they learned, the other video to put in practice what they just comprehended.  The visual aid is also a colorful, attention puller, that was created intentionally, to provide a distraction focused based atmosphere for my 5th grade classes. The video starts with a do now about the benefits of running, followed by 3 key benefits of running. Key points of each benefit are than explained. What has been thought is than followed by a summarized video explaining the benefits of running that I inserted from YouTube (video was not made by me). The last video is an exercise music video, also inserted from YouTube (video was not made by me) that puts the lesson into action. The sample 2 project provides many angels of learning the lesson goal.

The technology used for this video was the PowToon tool. The PowToon tool allowed me to create easy slides into a video format. The PowToon tool was an easy navigational experience, where I was able to add and cut time on the slides, produce and animate characters. PowToon was very accessible for every aspect needed to produce a visual experience.  PowToon tool was my choice to support student learning, because, I want to bring a visual and interactive experience for my students. PowToon supported every angle of my teaching targets. The reading, visual, hearing, and physical activity(interactive), of the learning goal.

The sample work 2 would help address issues related to student diversity by, addressing the lesson goal with different method of learning in the one video, that provides, reading, visual, hearing, and physical activities. I will reward my students for their effort in understanding what they have learned. The video will allow the students to learn at their pace. The video will be provided with pauses and reflection before moving forward.

The video will facilitate student learning in different aspects. Students will be asked to provide ideas, thoughts and meaning about the lesson. The video will ask the students a question about the benefits of the lesson goal. The video will have a physical activity video at the end where it will facilitate their physical literacy into what was thought. Example, the students will participate in a physical activity video and construct movement through directions from the video, to put into practice what they learned.

The learning objectives for my students is for them to remember the benefits of running, and how it benefits them, emotionally and physically (cardiovascular strength, mental, weight loss). My students should understand the difference between cardiovascular benefit from mental benefits. Students should be able to build constructive forms of keeping active via running. My students should be able to analyze what is considered a physical activity that contributes to the benefits of running. Students should practice a form of physical activity every day that contributes to cardiovascular strength and mental health.

My class will come to my gym and sit in their assign spots. I will take attendance and open the class to a quick discussion about their day, before jumping into the video that was projected via desk top to the projector. The class will think about the benefits of running, before being displayed on the projector. I will facilitate the class by asking the class what they understood or didn’t understood from the scenes of the video. I will rewind to explain or move forward with the video. After the summarization video, I will ask the class to give me 3 benefits of running, the question will be displayed on the projector. The class will than participate in a physical activity, music video that the students will interact and show creativity in their listening skills and physical literacy skills.  The students will then be rewarded for their engagement in class, by having candy pops.

My design was made to engage and interact students with different learning viewpoints. The colors were purposely added to the scenes for attention retention. When I was designing my video, I emphasized the design to be interlocked in the information provided but separate in delivering the message. When I start my video, the video presents a scene, welcoming the class and a do now(interactive).  The video afterwards turns into a visual learning information content. The visual shows the meat and potatoes of the content being thought. Following the scenes, is a video summarizing the benefits of running. The video that I got from YouTube for (educational purposes) to summarize the content was not made by me. After the video I design another scene, asking the class for 3 benefits of running, putting what they learned to the test. The second video that was taken from YouTube as well that I did not make, was an interactive physical activity video, where the class practices gaining benefits from running.
